New GBNI Logo Launched

You may remember in late 2021 we unfortunately had to notify all GB companies that the GB Smiley Face logo was to be removed from use due to an issue with the trademark. In the New Year, our GBNI Activities Team started work on planning an art competition to design a new GB logo. This competition was launched in February with entries due back in April. Over 640 entries were submitted and Graphic Designer, Steph Duke, came along to GBHQ to adjudicate the competition. Steph selected the top ten designs with two designs from each section and awarded Highly Commended to 75 other designs across all five sections. The top ten entries were sent out to the membership to vote for their favourite logo, by the closing date in mid-May.
Girls’ Brigade Northern Ireland can now announce that Alice Ferguson from 120th NI Annalong Presbyterian produced the winning design. Alice was invited along to GBHQ to meet with our in-house Graphic Design Officer, to transform her original design into a graphic image and Alice was able to input into its final layout using design software.
The proposed design was then presented to the GBNI Board of Trustees for final approval before it was sent on to the Intellectual Property Office to seek trademark status. Trademark status has now been granted.
After a lengthy process, Girls’ Brigade Northern Ireland are delighted to officially launch our new GBNI logo as voted by our members. At the GBNI AGM on 24th August 2022, GBNI Chairperson Tracey Davies, presented Alice with her final design in a beautiful frame as a keepsake to mark this wonderful achievement. We hope that all our GB companies will enjoy using our new ‘GBNI Jigsaw’ logo going forward in their promotion of Girls’ Brigade. The GBNI Shop are now looking at merchandise that will incorporate the new logo in time for Annual Displays.
