What We Do

Mentoring

To encourage deep inter-generational relationships which are anchored in Scripture, prayer and growth.

WALK WITH ME is being developed by a range of Irish denominations and youth ministries working together to create a resource that will encourage deep inter generational relationships which are anchored in Scripture, prayer and growth.  By creating these mentoring relationships we hope that we will be helping our girls to step closer to Jesus and equipping them to further seek, serve and follow Christ.

This resource will enable our Girls’ Brigade companies to support our girls, aged 14 +, by meeting in ones or twos with a committed Christian (a mentor) for an hour every couple of weeks to catch up, discuss the Bible and pray.

What’s provided?

A mentor’s app

This will provide the mentor with great questions and Biblical content to give a simple framework to their time with the girls.

A range of journeys

The app contains a choice of journeys (each 6 sessions in duration) that have been specifically written with young people in mind.  The journeys include:

  • Discovering who I am
  • Exploring who Jesus is
  • I’ve become a Christian
  • Following Jesus wholeheartedly
  • Joining God’s Mission
  • Becoming a Disciple Maker

Online support

The app is designed to support and encourage the mentors along the journey with the girls.  It includes training resources and good practice guidelines along with a personal login to connect mentors to Girls’ Brigade so we can follow up with support if needed.

How much will it cost?

Walk with me is free of charge.

Who can be a mentor?

The mentor can be a GB Officer or they may be someone within the church who the Captain and Chaplain have recognised would be an ideal women to invest and journey with the girls.  It may also be someone who is influential within your GB family eg. past members who may have the spare time to meet with the girls and who are also very good at relating to them.

How do GBNI support and check mentors?

All mentors will be trained before meeting with a girl.  They will also be provided with any support that is needed throughout the journey.  They must be 18 + and go through a reference and Access NI check.
