Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions (T&Cs) apply to the Girls’ Brigade Northern Ireland (GBNI) website, www.gbni.co.uk.  By using the website, you agree to be legally bound by these T&Cs.  You are free to leave the website if you do not wish to be bound by these T&Cs. 

If you purchase from our Online Shop, Shopify Terms will also apply.  

These T&Cs, together with our privacy policy and cookies policy govern your use of the website and your relationship with GBNI.

The website is owned and operated by GBNI and is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office as, ‘The Girls’ Brigade Northern Ireland Ltd’ (‘GBNI’).  The Girls’ Brigade Northern Ireland is registered as a company limited by guarantee in Northern Ireland No. NI058531, registered with The Charity Commission for Northern Ireland under NIC 100405 and is recognised as a charity for lawful tax purposes by HMRC Reference No. NI00689 and VAT Registration No. 254684143.

If we must contact you about GBNI business, an order placed through our Online Shop or an event booking, we will do so by telephone, text message or by writing to you at the email address or postal address provided in your order or via ‘My Leader Profile’. 

Accuracy and Changes

Whilst we aim to provide you with accurate information on the website, we are unable to guarantee that the information and content contained on the website is accurate, verified, or complete.  We accept no liability if you, or any person or organisation relies on or uses the information and/or content.  
 
From time to time, we may update our website and change the content to reflect the needs of GBNI, which may lead to changes in these T&Cs.  We will endeavour to notify users of any major changes via our website news page, email, and social media platforms (if deemed appropriate to do so).  However, we would encourage users of our website to refer to these T&Cs to understand the conditions that apply at the time. 

If you notice that any information is out of date or invalid, please notify us immediately by emailing info@gbni.co.uk and we will investigate your concern. 

Usage

You may only use the website by these T&Cs and for lawful and proper purposes. You may not alter the website in any way or do anything that might or will damage or disrupt the good working order of the website by knowingly introducing viruses or other malicious or technologically harmful material.  You must not gain unauthorised access to our website, the server on which our site is stored, or any server, computer or database connected to our website. 

We do not guarantee that our website, or any content contained on the website, will always be available or error-free.  We may suspend, withdraw, change, or discontinue any part of our website for business and operational reasons without notice. 

We also cannot guarantee that the website, or your use of it, will be free of viruses or harmful material.  You are responsible for ensuring that your computer system, mobile device, and software are suitable to use and compatible with the website.   

The downloading or other use of the material on the website is done at your own discretion and risk, and with your agreement that you will be solely responsible for any damage to your computer system, loss of data or any other harm that may result from such activities.  GBNI will not be liable to you for any such damage or loss that may arise in connection with or because of your use of the website, or in connection with your use of other sites linked to the website.   

The limitations and exclusions above only apply to the extent permitted by law.  Any such breaches will be reported to the relevant law enforcement authorities, and we will cooperate with those authorities by disclosing your identity to them.  

Usage Outside of the UK

 While we welcome all visitors to the website, we cannot guarantee that the website is appropriate or available for use in any territory.  Those who visit the website from outside the UK are responsible for complying with all applicable laws.  If the use of the website breaches any law in your jurisdiction(s), you may not use the website. 

 

Login Security

Access to the GBNII login area is restricted to registered GBNI leaders, with different access levels allocated based on roles.  See section ‘Updating Personal Details’.   

Access can be granted to Online Shop items if the external users are associated with the GB international family. 

Users must keep their login details secure and confidential and must not disclose this information to any other person. 

We have the right to remove any user login at any time if, in our reasonable opinion, you have failed to comply with any of our stated T&Cs. 

If a user knows or suspects that someone else has accessed their login details, please notify us immediately by emailing info@gbni.co.uk 

Intellectual Property and Use of Content

The GBNI website and all material published on it are owned by us or licensed for all intellectual property rights by GBNI.  Those works are protected by copyright laws with all such rights reserved. 

Users are not permitted to copy, use or reproduce any content including images and logos from our website without our prior written consent (except where extracts are downloaded from our Login Area for GB personnel use) or where text from the website is reproduced for the purpose of reporting in news publications provided that: (a) the text is reproduced accurately and fairly and not in a manner that could confuse or mislead others and (b) the website is acknowledged as the source of that information. 

GBNI has Branding Guidelines for the use of its logos and trademarks.  Please refer to these Guidelines before use.  Under no circumstances should images or photographs be copied from the website and used for any purpose.  If you identify any misuse of our images, please notify us immediately by emailing info@gbni.co.uk 

Useful Links and Resources

GBNI provides links and resources to third-party organisations for information only.  When linking a third-party resource or organisation to our website, we attempt to ensure that the services provided align with our core ethos and values.  However, when you access any other website through the website, you understand that it is independent of us.  Furthermore, we have no control over that website and can accept no responsibility concerning its content or how you interact with it.  Users are asked to notify GBNI immediately if linked resources breach the core values and ethos of the organisation by emailing info@gbni.co.uk and we will investigate your concern.

Linking to the Website

You may link to any part of the website provided you ensure that by doing so you breach no law or rights of others and that the linking to the website does not suggest any association, patronage, approval, or endorsement.  We do not permit any pages to be loaded into frames on any websites. 

Uploading Documents

Only Company Admins can upload documents to the GBNI website for Annual Return Purposes.  You are responsible for the content you upload to the website, and by uploading the information you confirm that GBNI can use the information in line with the organisation’s needs of operation. 

Updating Personal Details

All leaders should be recorded on, ‘My Brigade’ for insurance purposes.  Company Admins must request that all leaders complete a Leaders’ Annual Consent Form and then update their data on, ‘My Brigade’ in accordance with their form.  A ‘leader profile’ must be created to allow a leader access to the Login Area.  Please note that an email must be provided.  Leaders can update their personal details in ‘My Leader Profile’ and sign consent for GBNI GDPR purposes.  

Event Bookings

We would prefer all event bookings are made via ’Upcoming Events’ on the website to book places and, if applicable, to make a secure credit/debit card payment via our payment portal Stripe.   

Where this is not possible, bookings can be made over the phone with a member of staff impersonating your account to place the booking online for you or by posting a sign-up form and payment into GBNI (address stated above).  We will add your postal form to the ‘Online Event Booking System’ for you.  Once the booking has been processed, you will receive an email confirmation.  Entry fees are non-refundable.   

Please make cheques payable to GBNI and ensure the payment reaches GBNI before the deadline date.  Please contact GBNI if you wish to make a payment via BACS Transfer.  Please note it is the booker's own responsibility to ensure they have booked the correct course by the agreed deadline date and have check their confirmation email. Late entries cannot be accepted under any circumstances.

Queen’s Award Applications

Applications to the Queen’s Award Programme can be made online (preferred method) or by submitting a hard copy application form before the advertised closing date.  Payments can be made online by credit/debit card via our payment portal Stripe, via cheque made payable to GBNI or by BACS.  Please contact GBNI if you wish to make a payment via BACS transfer.  Please note applications are non-refundable, non-transferable, and subject to approval by the applicant’s GB Company Captain and Minister.  Late applications cannot be accepted.  It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure they meet all the advertised entry criteria before applying. 

Leadership Training Applications

Applications to the Officer and Sub-Officer Leadership Training must be made online before the advertised closing date.  Any training dates chosen may be subject to change where appropriate or necessary.  Payments can be made online by credit/debit card via our payment portal Stripe, via cheque made payable to GBNI or by BACS.   

Please contact GBNI if you wish to make a BACS transfer.  Please note applications are non-transferable and non-refundable unless an applicant is cancelling their application due to moving away to attend college/university.   

All applications are subject to approval by the applicant’s GB Company Captain and Minister, and it is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure they meet all the advertised entry criteria, and any additional criteria set by their GB Company church before applying.  Late entries will be considered on a case-by-case basis. 

Online Payments

We have two areas for making an online donation, one to support GBNI’s work and the other to support our charity partnership.  Company Admins can make online payments for Annual Assessments via ‘My Brigade’ – ‘My Annual Returns.’  All online payments are processed through our payment portal, Stripe, and its Terms of Use apply.

Law and Jurisdiction

These T&Cs and your use of the website are governed by Northern Irish law, and you shall submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Northern Irish Courts.
