Final Year of Partnership

Girls’ Brigade Northern Ireland is now in its final year of partnership with local charity, Habitat for Humanity, Ireland, to support families in need of a safe home to live. Let's make it a BIG one!

About the charity

Habitat For Humanity

Habitat for Humanity, Ireland is part of a wider international Christian housing organisation that helps families and communities to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter in 70 countries around the world.

Across Ireland, Habitat raises funds to support partner programmes around the world, focusing on the key themes of peacebuilding; orphans and vulnerable children; the impact of urbanisation; and disaster response and mitigation.

Habitat also directly tackles poverty through its network of Habitat ReStores.  They provide access to low-cost home improvement materials, employability training for people of all abilities and divert tons of material from landfills.  ReStore also raises funds to support long-term partner programmes in some of our world’s poorest communities.

Fundraising

We need your support!

With your help, Girls' Brigade NI can make a difference to raise much-needed funds to support Habitat for Humanity, in their work to build safe and secure homes for communities.

All funds raised will go directly to the work of Habitat, primarily to help build homes that will support families to improve their lives; with the safety and security that a Habitat home provides and will ensure access to clean water and sanitation for the wider communities too.

GBNI will be organising a number of fundraising events and activities for GB members to take part in during the partnership.  Keep an eye out in our Newsletter and on the GBNI website for details of upcoming events and how to get involved.

Individual GB companies are urged to come up with some novel ideas to fundraise and support this partnership.   Check out "Our Little Book Of Big Fundraising Ideas" to help you fundraise within your GB company.  All monies raised should be sent to GBHQ and not directly to Habitat for Humanity.  Cheques made payable to GBNI.

Equipping Leaders to Raise Awareness

Over the three-year period, GBNI and Habitat for Humanity are working together to develop interactive resources for all ages groups that can be used across our four-sided programme. Together we hope to increase awareness and provide opportunities to our members to grow into active citizens who can make a real difference in their local community and around the world. These resources will be distributed directly to Company Captains and are available to download from the Resources Section under Programmes.

Together we can help build them a future!

Please help if you can. Every donation will make a difference.
