Seniors

Awards & Badgework

The Senior Programme is based on a GBNI programme resource called the 'PSALT File' (Practical and Spiritual Applications for Living Today).

Seniors are awarded a Circle, presented for the completion of four subjects, one from each section of the PSALT programme.  This would normally take one Brigade year. There are three Circle Awards, each distinguished by the number of segments. Each colour used in the badge represents a section of the programme as outlined below.

  • White: Spiritual

e.g. GB scripture course, discipleship courses, mentoring courses

  • Blue: Physical

e.g. Unihoc, pickleball, volleyball and futsal

  • Yellow: Educational

e.g. Cyber savvy, career girls and baking

  • Red: Service

e.g. Mission projects, First Aid, and fire safety.

Badgework Resources

The PSALT File (Practical and Spiritual Applications for Living Today) was first issued to all companies when launched in 2002 and has been revamped several times.  The latest version is available to view and download from the Resources area under Programme Files and is also available to purchase from the GBNI Shop.

The aim of the PSALT File is to encourage girls to see the relevance of God’s Word as it is applied throughout the GB programme and in every aspect of their day-to-day lives.

The PSALT File provides various topics for leaders and girls to choose from, including suggestions on how to approach the topic, activities and ideas for including a spiritual application for each topic.

The PSALT File is a resource file rather than a syllabus and should be used with flexibility, depending on individual company situations.

Awards

Senior Circle Award

Girls in this section work for a minimum of four subjects each year; completing at least one subject from each of the four sections in the programme book to achieve a Circle Award.

A total of three Circles may be gained i.e. one for each year in the Senior Section; and a certificate may be awarded on the successful completion of each subject and these can be purchased from the GBNI Shop for Captains/Officers to complete.

Circles are presented in sequence and so a girl in her first year in the Senior Section will work for her 1st Circle, regardless of age, e.g. if a girl joins GB at age 11, she will work towards her 1st Senior Circle. In the same way, if a girl joins GB at age 13, she too will work towards her 1st Senior Circle.
