GB Europe Update

For your information, please read the following updates from GB Europe:

GB Stories

Part of the GB European Fellowship strategic plan for 2023-2026 is to increase the social media output of GB Europe.  The envisaged aim of increasing GB Europe's social media output is to improve the sense of being part of an international family, to encourage leaders to continue doing GB in their local context and perhaps encourage them to partake in GB Europe and GBI events when available.

The plan for the GB Europe output is a weekly post highlighting a good news story from one of our GBEF members, with the hope of these rotating around the Fellowship and each country being featured once a month.

With this in mind, GBNI would like to seek amongst its leaders some good news stories that could be shared with GB Europe for their social media campaign.  If you or one of your leaders have had a recent positive experience in GB that you would be willing to share, please can I ask you to forward it to me as soon as possible?  Please keep the word count around 500 words.

If you are active on social media, please check out the GB Europe Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/GBinEurope

GBNI Mentoring

GB Europe are still seeking names of members who may be interested in being part of a GBI Mentoring Team, if any of your leaders would be interested in finding out more, please ask them to contact GBHQ.

The Gathering 2025

In 2013 and 2017, IPC held an International Gathering for leaders aged 18-35.  Similar to ICGB, these provided opportunities for fellowship, networking and equipping, in addition to providing a platform for younger Officers to discuss issues important to them and feedback to IPC.  IPC are planning on hosting another Gathering next year however given the current cost of living, it has been agreed that the Gathering 2025 will be a virtual event.  GB Asia has kindly offered to coordinate two Saturdays in November (22nd and 29th) as provisional dates.  GB Europe is currently seeking young leaders who would be interested in being part of the organising committee, as before, please signpost any leaders who would be interested in finding out more to contact GBHQ.

Resources 2024-2025

At the start of each year, GBI launches a number of resources.  This year there are two resources based on the 2024 theme "Rise in Strength...Make Disciples" in addition to a "Go Green" fundraising resource, which was highlighted on World Environment Day (a prayer resource was also available).  In addition, the Delegation of Hope hosted a webinar in June based on their workshop at UN CSW.  If you were unable to attend that session, GBI aim to release the recording later in the year.  Please visit the GB International website for more details on these resources via https://gbworldwide.org/

GBI Christmas Video 2024

Girls’ Brigade International invite Girls’ Brigade companies around the world to participate in their Christmas video for 2024 by prerecording a Christmas message, song, skit etc. and forwarding it to our Fellowship's IVP by the 20th October 2024.  The launch of Christmas 2024 video will be on 1st December 2024.

GB Europe is hoping that lots of Gb companies will want to make a video to be included, so below are a few guidelines to enable everything to work smoothly:

  • Film your video ensuring the clip is horizontal

  • Filming on a phone is fine – the clip just needs to be in .MOV or .MP4 format

  • Ensure there is minimal background noise, and that the room is well lit

  • Please don’t use any copyrighted music/images/text in your clip

  • Make sure you have photo consent for any GB member featured and that they’re wearing GB uniform

  • Larger videos may be sent using  WeTransfer

  • Videos should be submitted to IVPs by 20 October 2024 - via gbeurovc@gmail.com
