The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) is the charity that saves lives at sea across the UK and Ireland. Founded in 1824, the RNLI provides a 24-hour search and rescue service through its network of lifeboat stations, volunteer crews, and lifeguards.

Independent of government and the Coastguard, they are funded primarily through donations and fundraising. The RNLI is committed to preventing drowning, promoting water safety, and ensuring help is always available when people get into difficulty in the water. Through the dedication of thousands of volunteers and supporters, the RNLI has been saving lives for over 200 years.

With your help, GBNI can make a difference to raise much-needed funds to support RNLI to raise awareness and to save lives.
All funds raised will go directly to the work of RNLI, supporting their lifeboat crews, lifeguards and community volunteers.

Every £1 donated helps to power their lifesaving service and give their volunteers all they need to save every one they can. You'll be making a difference, not only to the people they rescue and their loved ones, but to the crew and their families too. With your support, they'll be ready to save lives, right now and in the future.

In addition, there are opportunities to engage directly with the RNLI through visits and presentations. The RNLI Community Team may be available to attend a Girls’ Brigade company night to share more about their lifesaving work and water safety education. Companies located near an RNLI lifeboat station may also wish to arrange a visit, giving girls the opportunity to meet crew members, learn about the equipment used in rescues, and gain a greater understanding of the RNLI's vital role in keeping people safe around water.
