Focus on Prayer
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."
"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people."
- Focus on prayer - September 2017 edition
Someone wisely said regarding praying,
“Don’t give God instructions, just report on duty!
Prayer is one of the most wonderful privileges. Please take a little time each day as a GB family to pray on a regular basis with this weekly plan.
Monday: Many companies meeting
Pray at the start of the week for your own district or company. Ask for prayer requests, encourage and enable by your prayers.
Pray for your Chaplain, Captain and girls.
Pray specifically for the Scripture Course as we explore the life of Moses.
Tuesday: Tasks to be done
Pray for the vast team of staff, volunteers and helpers who work tirelessly for GB.
Remember the Executive, Brigade Council and the various Teams in their different roles.
Pray as we complement each other in serving Christ, in seeking serving and following Him.
Wednesday: Willing Volunteers
Pray for all volunteers who give of their time willingly. Your work is invaluable. May God give you strength and joy as you serve faithfully.
Pray for our GBNI Past Members’ Association. We appreciate you, especially your prayers and support.
Thursday: Task of building a GB School in Uganda
Take this year to pray, give and bless others who do not have the facilities we have. God sees those in need and asks us to get involved.
Pray too for the Girls’ Brigade Company there who appreciates all our support and interest.
Watch out for updates in our magazine for updates on any Mission outreach in serving GB.
Friday: Family, Friends and new Followers
Thank God for our families, our church family and the wider GB family across our world.
Pray too for many of our GB girls who do not have a church connection.
Pray for many to discover what it means to follow Christ in the year ahead.
Pray too that many will be followed up in discipleship groups within our churches or attend youth groups.
Saturday: Sharing and supporting one another
Make your prayers practical. In the year prior to our 125th Anniversary build bridges; support a new company; encourage a struggling company share your resources. Go that extra mile for Jesus.
Encourage your Prayer Co-ordinator in her role.
Continue to pray for those after bereavement, be the loving supporting arms of Christ by praying.
Sunday: Shall we worship together?
Sustaining your spiritual glow comes from spending time with God. Make it a priority to sit at His feet and be fed spiritually.
“Mary chose the greater part”; make it your goal too, not only on Sundays but every day.
Someone also said “How many people in your life could be touched by God if you simply took time out to pray?”
We may never know the answer to this. It is exciting!!!!! I encourage you to keep going with your prayer lists or maybe commence one for the first time. Keep it on your phone as a reminder. Whatever method works, use it.
Prayer certainly changes things.
God’s word says
“Pray on every occasion as the Spirit leads. For this reason keep alert and never give up; pray always for all God’s people.” Ephesians: 6:18
