Re:Charge - Week 2

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear summer?

Could it be spending time with family and friends? More time to improve a hobby? Going on holiday? Not having to worry about homework, exams and meeting deadlines? Having more time to spend with God?
For everyone it can mean something different and that’s ok.
For me personally I look forward to beach walks with my dogs, having some free time to enjoy with family and friends and building my relationship with God.

In our busy schedules, it’s easy sometimes to forget about God. There’s many ways we can talk to God and I hope this blog will help you to recharge your own batteries and recharge with God this summer!

Isaiah 40:31 tells us
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Jesus is our hope. When we hope and have faith in Him, whatever it is we may be doing or challenging ourselves with, or facing in our lives this verse tells us that God is with us renewing our strength.

How do you feel about trying something new this summer?
Have a look what events are coming up in your church and go along. Nervous to go yourself? Bring a long a friend or family member, the perfect time for a catch up. If not don’t worry, there will be lots of people who may be trying it out for the first time too.
I love being set a new challenge. Sometimes I let my nerves get the better of me but all I can say it when I overcome a new challenge I feel filled with accomplishment, pride and joy, knowing ‘I’ve done it’ and God has been with me every step of the way.

Spending time with God can be done in many of our every day things. If you play a musical instrument, why not change one of your songs for a piece of worship. If you enjoy singing, praise him with your words in praise. Enjoy reading? Read a piece from the bible or Christian article. Taking a few minutes out of our everyday life to be with God can be done in many ways.

Take care of your well being this summer, do things you enjoy and relax.
  • Read a book
  • Go for a walk and enjoy the outdoors
  • Meet up with friends
  • Spend time with family
  • Watch your favourite movie

Whatever it is you choose to do this summer, whether it be relaxing with friends and family, or trying something new and stepping completely out of your comfort zone, the main thing is to enjoy it and know that God is with you every day.
